General Muhammad Musa, Government Degree College is a Leading Government Educational Hub and Institute situated in Musa Town Cantt, Area of Quetta City. Its foundation stone was laid by the then Provincial Minister for Education Sardar Nisar Ali Hazara on 1st April 1987 with the valuable assistance and support of the then Governor of Balochistan General Muhammad Musa Khan Hazara. The college construction was completed on 7th July 1988 by Ramzan & Company under the Five Point Program of the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Khan Joneju. To honor and remember the great services rendered for the defense and development of the people of Pakistan as the Four Star General and Chief of Army Staff, the college was named General Muhammad Musa Government Inter College when he himself was still alive and serving the people of this province as Governor. Undoubtedly, General Muhammad Musa Khan Hazara(1908-1991) the eldest son of Sardar Yazdan Khan (the then chief of Hazara Tribe,) was a hard-working, talented and committed Army General whose command and military leadership qualities made him the Hero of 1965 Pak-India War. During his military and civil services, he earned several awards; namely Hilal-e-Pakistan, Hilal-e-Jurat, Hilal-e-Quaidi Azam, MBE (Member of the Most excellent order of British Empire), IDC and PSC.
He served with distinction in the Pakistani Army and rose from Non-Commissioned Officer to the rank of the commander in chief of Pakistan Armed Forces during the regime of President Mohammad Ayub Khan (1958–1969). After General Musa retired from the army, President Ayub Khan appointed him as the Governor of West Pakistan from 1967 to 1969. After serving for a few years, he retired and settled in Karachi. In 1985, he was once again involved in politics. He was appointed Governor of Balochistan Province by the then President General Zia-ul-Haq. He served the people as Governor of Balochistan from 1985 till his death in 1991. The college commenced its regular intermediate classes in 1990, the first principal of which was Professor Nazir Hussain, whose commitment, sincerity, management principles and leadership qualities made this new government college as one of the top leading and exemplary government institutions in Balochistan. The discipline, management system and basic structures which were installed and established in the first years of the college for possible quality education by its pioneers went through various changes over the years but the very soul and spirit of it are still in practice until the present day. To meet the higher educational needs of students, the college was upgraded from inter to degree college on 24.04.2012. The college up-gradation to graduation level was the result and fruit of the untiring continuous efforts of,Professor Mukhtar Hussain Jaffari, who has the credit of being the first principal of this degree college, the valuable endeavors of the teaching staff, support of the prominent personalities of the Hazara Community and cooperation of the officials of University Board and University of Balochistan. General Muhammad Musa Government Degree College has been spreading the light of education, combating ignorance and illiteracy since its establishment in 1990. The college professors and lecturers teach the students of both intermediate and graduation classes with commitment and enthusiasm. To facilitate education, this college has well equipped science laboratories of Biology, Chemistry and Physics experiments and exams. Moreover, it has an advanced computer lab which caters for computer education and skills. There is also a large library with thousands of books on various subjects and themes of science, arts and general knowledge etc.
